Yes and no! No drowning is most certainly not the only way Killer Whales in the wild finish off their prey, not even by a long shot! And Yes this was probably just a whale surfacing just playing around. Except that even playing like that could prove lethal to humans. We are talking about an animal weigthing tons or so doing backflips over a measly 100-200 plus lbs human being and it's just no contest. If any part of their massive bodies hit you, you will either end up as a quadraplegic or dead...

Whales like to breach out of the water for fun and to communicate with other whales. It wasnt trying to kill them. If a killer whale wants you dead, its going to drown you.
